I love telling stories.
Especially stories about our local heroes, volunteer firefighters who make themselves available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year to protect their communities.
And, I have yet to meet a journalist who didn’t jump at the chance to wriggle into turnout gear, no matter how old and smelly it is, and operate a charged water line or take in a bird’s eye view from high atop an aerial unit.

But, members of the media are incredibly curious about the people who choose the fire service and why they do it. So, when they receive an invite to spend time with volunteer firefighters and learn more about who they are and what drives them, they’re all in.
And, the stories they can tell when they have the chance to get to know a hometown hero are some of the best stories there are.
